Beavers

Beaver Scouts caters for young people aged 6 – 8 years.

As a Beaver, your child will join our Colony and easily recognised by their very distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, will begin their Scouting Adventure. Your child will start exploring the outdoors, delving into creative crafts, discovering their community, playing games and making new friends. After a few weeks of attending Beaver Scouts, your child will be ‘invested’. This is when they promise to do their best and help others.

Activities

We believe that young people learn by doing, so our Beaver Scout Programme is bursting at the seams with a magnificent variety of activities, which engage and challenge young people of all abilities. Scout activities focus on making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.

You can expect your child to get involved in:

  • sleepovers
  • water activities
  • nature walks
  • cooking
  • crafts
  • sports
  • and many more

Completing these kinds of activities offers the chance to earn badges which can be worn on the uniform.

Earn badges, get active and embrace the challenge!

Skills for Life

Scouting is more than just having fun:

Beaver Scouts learn skills that are essential to their personal development and reaching their full potential. As well as developing a range of practical skills, your child will have the chance to develop skills such as:

  • teamwork
  • problem solving
  • communication
  • and responsibility.

Peace of Mind

To ensure your child is safe, Leaders adhere to our anti-bullying, equal opportunities, safety and child protection policies. Beaver Scouts take part in activities and learn new skills under the supervision of adult volunteers. They work effectively and safely with young people to deliver the Scout Programme and have access to training to support them in their role. If you have any questions, get in touch with your Section Leader to put your mind at ease.

We currently have two colonies:

Our Beaver Scouts meet at the Scout Headquarters on Bath Lane in Hixon.

Our meeting nights for Beavers (Boys & Girls 6yrs – 8yrs) are as follows:
Beaver Colony – Wednesday Evening – 5.55pm – 6.55pm (from September 2021)

Scouting is for adults too!

How much time you give is completely up to you.

Whether you help out once a fortnight, month, term or just at special events or camps, there is bound to be a role you can play.
