Cubs

7th Stafford (Trent Valley) Hurricane Cub Pack is a busy, fun filled section comprised of 25+ Cubs and 3 Leaders. The Section caters for boys and girls aged 8 -10½, and we meet on a Monday Evening at our Scout Hut in Hixon from 6:30pm – 8:00pm.

As a Cub Scout, your child will join our Cub Pack and enjoy exciting adventures, discover hidden talents and explore the world around them. After a few weeks with the pack, your child will be ‘Invested’, when they will promise to do their best and help others.

Cubs is the second section of the Scouting Movement and in this section, excitement and adventure are key. We provide a broad and balanced programme of Scouting skills and fun, as well as many exciting activities, indoors and outdoors, allowing your child to be creative and to get involved in our local communities throughout the year.

Earn badges, get active and embrace the challenge!

Badgework

Badgework is very important and there are lots of badges to be gained. Starting with your membership badge and then travelling all the way up to the Chief Scout’s Silver Award. You can work towards as many as you like, at your own pace.

Activities

We believe that young people learn by doing and our programme is packed full of amazing activities to engage and challenge our Cub Scouts whatever their abilities. We like to get out during the summer and in the recent past we have visited the Space Centre in Leicestershire and Chasewater Sports Centre along with evening trips to Pets at Home and Halfords to support our badgework.

We camp overnight for at least 3 nights of the year – an indoor camp for 1 night during the autumn term and a 2 nights summer camp in June/July.

You can expect your child to get involved in:

  • camps
  • water activities
  • nature walks
  • cooking
  • crafts
  • sports
  • and many more….

Skills for Life

As a Cub Scout, your child will learn a variety of character-building life skills including:

  • leadership
  • teamwork
  • problem solving
  • communication
  • and responsibility

Peace of Mind

To ensure your child is safe, Leaders adhere to our anti-bullying, equal opportunities, safety and child protection policies. Cub Scouts take part in activities and learn new skills under the supervision of adult volunteers. They work effectively and safely with young people to deliver the Scout Programme and have access to training to support them in their role. If you have any questions, get in touch with your Section Leader to put your mind at ease.

Scouting is for adults too!

Get Involved

We believe in flexible volunteering and offer a number of volunteer roles to suit a range of skills. Interested? Speak to your Section Leader to ask about the different roles available.
How much time you give is completely up to you.

Whether you help out once a fortnight, month, term or just at special events or camps, there is bound to be a role you can play.

Build on your skills

Scouting offers the chance for you to build on personal skills like teamwork, confidence and leadership. To find out how you can volunteer, visit scouts.org.uk/get-involved, make contact with your Section Leader or use our Contact Page.

It’s all about excitement, adventure and having fun
