Scouts
Scouts returned to the Group after a 16 year absence and called themselves 7th Stafford (Trent Valley) Shugborough Scout Troop. Starting with 7 new Scouts it has rapidly expanded to between 22 and 25 members. The Section and meet on a Friday Evening at our Scout Hut in Hixon from 7.15pm – 9.15pm.
The Scout section caters for boys and girls aged 10½ – 14 and is the third section in the Scout Group, following after Beavers and Cubs. Most of our Scouts move up from the Cubs Section, however, you can still come along and join us if you are new to Scouting. In their Troop, Scouts will make friends with other like minded young people from all walks of life and together they will earn badges and awards while taking part in both indoor and outdoor activities. When Scouts join the Troop they are “Invested” – making a promise to do their best and help others.

Our Scouts are encouraged to learn by doing, so our Scout programme is filled with adventurous activities to develop their confidence, independence and skills.

Skills for Life
Our Scouts learn skills that are essential to building their character, helping others and developing an awareness of the world around them.
Scouting helps young people to develop:

- A sense of responsibility
Peace of Mind
To ensure your child is safe, Leaders adhere to our anti-bullying, equal opportunities, safety and child protection policies. Scouts take part in activities and learn new skills under the supervision of adult volunteers. They work effectively and safely with young people to deliver the Scout Programme and have access to training to support them in their role. If you have any questions, get in touch with your Section Leader to put your mind at ease.

Get Involved
We believe in flexible volunteering and offer a number of volunteer roles to suit a range of skills. Interested? Speak to your Section Leader to ask about the different roles available.
How much time you give is completely up to you.
Whether you help out once a fortnight, month, term or just at special events or camps, there is bound to be a role you can play.

Our Scouts meet at the Scout Headquarters on Bath Lane in Hixon.
