Cubs September 2019 Update

Date: 16th Sep 2019 Author: Scout Websites

We kicked off our new scouting year with a Saturday outing to Chasewater Outdoor Centre for a morning of watersports. Luckily, the weather was on our side and it didn’t rain and the water was quite warm (in our wetsuits!). 25 Cubs and 2 leaders took part; we did giant paddleboarding, individual paddleboarding and ‘ringo’ (a giant inflatable ring on a pully-system that flung the Cubs off into the water!). The highlight of course, was Akela falling off her paddleboard into the water – many photos were taken of that!

On another one of our first meetings back after the summer holidays, Chil organised the ‘Hixon Hunt’ for the Pack as part of Cubs’ local knowledge badge. We went out in 3 groups to hunt around our village, Hixon, reading clues and looking for information on the area in which we live. We had a great time, learned and saw many things that have been under our noses forever, but we had never noticed!
